The age gate, and why the line sits at twenty-one

The age gate is the confirmation on entering this site; bookings are accepted only from people who are twenty-one or over, and every therapist listed is twenty-one or over.

The first thing a visitor meets on this site is a short line saying who the service is for and a button reading "I am twenty-one or over". That is the age gate. Pressing the button is the visitor's own declaration that he meets the threshold. The browser keeps that one answer so the question is not asked on every page, and nothing else about the click is stored. The age statement sets out the wording in full.

Why twenty-one

Plenty of adult sites draw the line lower. This house draws it at twenty-one for everyone, and it does not move for a persuasive message. A higher threshold removes doubt at the margins, where a year either way in how people describe themselves can matter, and it suits the people the service is built around: travellers, business guests and residents well settled into adult life.

The line runs in both directions. Bookings are accepted only from people who are twenty-one or over, and anyone else present during a session has to be twenty-one or over as well. By sending a booking message, a client states that this holds for him and for everyone who will be in the room. Every therapist listed here is twenty-one or over too.

At the door

Your therapist may ask to see photo identification when she arrives. She takes a look and gives it straight back; she makes no copy, scan or photograph of it, and nothing on it is noted anywhere. If she cannot satisfy herself that everyone in the room is twenty-one or over, she leaves before the session begins, and that call is hers alone.

Hotels keep their own rules for visitors after dark, and some ask at reception. If yours is strict about visitors, mention it in the thread so the arrival can be arranged to suit the building; the hotel guide covers how properties differ.

A quieter purpose

The gate also lets someone who reached the site by accident leave before seeing anything, a courtesy owed to anyone browsing on a shared screen. Questions about what the house holds, and for how long, are answered on the privacy page.
