Outcall: the therapist comes to your address

Outcall means the therapist travels to the client, to a hotel room or a private address, instead of the client visiting a studio or salon.

An outcall booking is one where the therapist comes to you. The opposite arrangement, where the client travels to a fixed premises, is called incall. This house works on outcall alone: there is no studio, no reception room and no address for a client to visit. Every one of the forty-five therapists on the roster sets out from wherever she is to wherever the client is staying.

In practice the destination is nearly always one of two things. The first is a hotel room, which accounts for most bookings in a city where so many clients are visiting for a conference, a weekend or a layover. The second is a private address: a rented apartment, a serviced flat or a home. The service area is central Amsterdam and the districts around it, with Schiphol airport hotels by arrangement, and a stay anywhere else falls outside it.

What outcall changes for the buyer

Three things follow from the format. The first is timing. Because the therapist is travelling, a booking has an arrival window rather than a door you walk through at a set minute; the arrival window entry explains how that works. The second is the room. The client supplies the setting, so a clean bed or a large towel, a warm room and a door that closes are worth a moment of thought before the knock.

The third is money. A therapist sets out before any session begins, which is why most bookings are confirmed with a deposit that counts toward the fee, and why the balance is settled in person once she has arrived. Neither of those would look the same at a salon counter.

The fee itself carries no travel supplement inside the city. The hourly figure in the rates table on each therapist's profile holds whether the room is on the canal ring or out by the business district. For the longer account of how the format runs across Amsterdam, see the outcall guide.

Outcall is sometimes read as a lesser version of a spa visit. It is better understood as a different product: the setting is private by default, nobody else is waiting in a corridor, and the session ends where you already are, with no journey home afterwards.
